Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 – A Closer Look

In the line of Sony Ericssons exceptional models (W950, W300i, W580i, just to name a few), here comes another gem, ‘Sony Ericsson – Xperia X1’. Xperia comes in two flavours, X1a for North America and X1i for some other euopean and asian middle east countries. The launch date was September 30. We may expect Xperia in India from Q2 of ’09.

Notable Features

– Fully brushed Gorgeous Aluminium body

– Keys that light up automatically (night/dark)

– Soft Touch QWERTY keypad

– 800 * 480 high resolution

– 3.2 MP camera (Flash)

– Windows Mobile 6.1 with 256 MB RAM

– Panels with customizable home screen

The first look, its solid body, Xperia caught everyones eyes with its fully furnished look. It looks fancier, not beign too thick and wider, with its curvaceous slide out QWERTY pad, tempts everyone to lay hands on it.:P and be prepared to be surprised when night turns out, coz the backlit keys light up automatically in night(dark places). hmm, i know what you are thinking now, many of you dont want to put a light show when it is in your pockets, right? dont worry, you can have full control over these settings.

Xepria has a resolution of 800 * 480 with a clear cut VGA display. Not to leave the cool panel interface. xperia x1a has only 7 panels. x1 should probably have a one or two more. Each panel is a customizable home screen based on what type of panel you have selected. For example, if you select a Google panel, you’ll have access to all its features, maps, gmail, gcal and photos, all with one click access.

Xperia is powered by Widows Mobile 6.1. So, those who have already experienced with winmobile will feel, “home sweet home”. coming to the operational tasks performed, even with the 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200 processor coupled with 256MB of RAM, xperias response time seems too much shabby :(. Now for the 3.2 MegaPixel camera, its a pretty good quality for a phone, and the in-built camera being one of Sony Ericssons stronghold, we cant make it better, can we?

We have to give a credit to Xperias multimedia capabilities. You can play and skip videos and slide through your pictures right from the homescreen. The sound is crisp and audible enough. The inclusion of the Opera web browser makes web browsing faster and enjoyable than in IE. Xperia lives for about 22 hours in a moderate usage of the phone, before it runs out of the battery. Making overall, Sony Ericssson Xperia X1 is worth your money. But, as with any other smart phones, it solely depends on the usage of the user!
